Defect Clearances
If your vehicle does not meet the required vehicle standards at the time the vehicle was presented for inspection it will fail:
- A Defect Notice will be issued for a failed inspection by the Police or RMS Inspectors.
- An Infringement Notice can also be issued for presenting a vehicle for inspection with defects.
- A vehicle will not pass a subsequent inspection until the necessary repairs specified on the Defect Notice have been cleared at a HVAIS.
On receipt of the cleared defect notice (either electronically or in hard copy), the defect notice will be cleared.
